It’s easy to be cynical about the Florida Legislature and its leadership that far too often puts special interests and campaign donors ahead of everyday Floridians. So today, we want to take a moment to recognize those legislators who championed our progressive values clearly and consistently throughout the 2016 legislative session.
Florida’s refusal to expand the Medicaid program has had numerous negative consequences for our state. One of the more tragic is that Florida children who would have received coverage with expansion have not.
Take action and tell the Florida Legislature to reject HB 191 and SB 318. Communities should be able to protect their land and water from fracking.
In the next few days, legislators will decide whether or not to respect or ignore the will of 75% of Florida voters who passed Amendment 1, the Water and Land Conservation Amendment, last November.
On June 1st, legislators will return for a special session and get a “do over” to put together the state budget. Rally in your community May 30th and tell your legislators to “Finish The Job” and fund Amendment 1.
