“This proposed reduction will inevitably result in roads deteriorating, libraries, pools, and parks closing, public safety response times going up, housing affordability worsening, and more homeless on our streets.” – Donna Deegan, Mayor of Jacksonville

With zero studies on the impact to local communities, the Florida Legislature placed Amendment 3 on the ballot this November to eliminate property taxes on homestead properties. If passed, Amendment 3 will cause massive cuts to essential services our communities depend on, new and higher fees, and a tax shift for millions of Floridians.

Critical local services that would face funding cuts from Amendment 3 include first responders, public hospitals, health and wellness programs, children’s and family services, disaster preparedness and response, libraries, parks, and more.

Here’s the bottom line: Hardworking families and seniors need real affordability relief, not a scam that cuts crucial community services and popular programs and will increase costs with new fees or tax increases. That’s why Progress Florida is urging Floridians to vote NO on Amendment 3.

The non-partisan Florida Policy Institute estimates that local communities in Florida would lose $12 billion in tax money every year if voters approve Amendment 3. Moreover, the Florida Housing Coalition projects that Florida’s renters will lose big if Amendment 3 passes, with landlords passing on the tax shift to renters.

Please join us in voting NO on Amendment 3 and urge your friends and family to do the same by sharing this email or posting your opposition on social media.
