Florida is facing a real crisis in mental health care. Send a letter to House Speaker Crisafulli today and urge him to make mental health funding a priority this legislative session by closing the coverage gap.
As I write this, nearly 600,000 hardworking Floridians are stuck in what’s called the “coverage gap.” These are friends and neighbors who don’t make enough money to qualify for subsidized health insurance through the Healthcare.gov marketplace, and make too much money to qualify for Medicaid.
This problem isn’t going away and will only grow more serious as federal funds to assist uncompensated care end and the momentum for a permanent solution becomes unstoppable. Florida House Republicans have only extended the fight, they haven’t ended it.
