Progress Florida & Florida Watch Call for Health Care Access and Affordability Solutions During 2026 Session
TALLAHASSEE – Today, the 2026 Florida Legislative Session kicked off in Tallahassee as Floridians continue to struggle with an affordability crisis that has gone unaddressed by state leaders.

In response, Progress Florida Executive Director Mark Ferrulo and Florida Watch Executive Director Natasha Sutherland issued the following statements:
“We are calling on legislators to protect affordable health care coverage, expand access to Medicaid, and lower costs for millions of Floridians who are working hard every day to make ends meet during an historic affordability crisis,” said Progress Florida Executive Director Mark Ferrulo. “We need our elected representatives to be laser-focused on an affordability agenda with practical solutions for working families and seniors that lower costs, raise wages, and expand access to health care.”
“We deserve leaders who will put politics aside to build a brighter future for all of us, with practical solutions that lower costs and raise wages, protect our environment, and root out corruption to put hardworking Floridians and seniors first,” stated Florida Watch Executive Director Natasha Sutherland. “We don’t have to agree on everything to work together and no one has to lose for all of us to win. I hope our elected leaders take that message to heart over the next sixty days and have the courage to do what’s right for the people of Florida.”
