The late author Molly Ivins once referred to her home state of Texas as the “National Laboratory For Bad Government.” Now Florida’s legislative leaders are looking to bring one of Texas’ worst Frankenstein experiments to our state.

Call these key members of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services today and urge them to vote NO on SB 1722 which would impose a host of unnecessary rules designed to shut down women’s health centers throughout Florida.
- Sen. Rene Garcia (chair): 850-487-5038
- Sen. Aaron Bean: 850-487-5004
- Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto: 850-487-5030
- Sen. Denise Grimsley: 850-487-5021
- Sen. Garrett Richter: 850-487-5023
Supporters of SB 1722 claim this bill is about protecting women, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. This legislation imposes regulations that are both unnecessary and have nothing to do with improving patient care. House budget writers have also added a provision that would specifically block Planned Parenthood from being reimbursed with federal funds for any service it provides.
This is the kind of extremism we’ve come to expect from Gov. Scott’s allies in the Florida Legislature. Every year, instead of working to expand access to health care, these legislators work to restrict it. This year, it will take the voices of thousands of engaged Floridians like you to stop them.
Let’s stand up against extremism. Call the key state senators above and urge them to vote NO on SB 1722.
Help us spread the word about this highly dangerous legislation by forwarding this email to your Florida friends and family. Thanks for all you do to protect women’s health.
