The Program Manager drives the evaluation, planning, integration and management of special projects and strategic initiatives under the guidance of the Department Director.  This position focuses on strategic development and implementation of projects related to the implementation of Amendment 4 and other criminal justice reform related projects in Florida.

The ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism is crucial to this role. Expert level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision making ability and attention to detail are extremely important.  Above all, the ideal candidate will have a proven commitment to social justice and express comfort working in a highly diverse and dynamic environment.

The Program Manager is a Full Time exempt position. Exempt employees are expected to work the appropriate and necessary time to complete key assignments and related tasks on schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and implement short and long-term goals and objectives to increase organizational capacity by developing a more effective management system.
  • Develop support and accountability systems.
  • Advise on optimum structures and help build-out dedicated teams that can meet deliverables.
  • Acts as a lead in project due diligence.
  • Supervise Program Coordinator(s).
  • Work with other organizations and state agency representatives as it relates to specific programs.
  • Run and provide weekly status reports/ program updates to Director(s)/SLT and/or others as needed.
  • Develop a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the program and to identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversee case management of files.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent job-related experience required, Master’s Degree  preferred.
  • At least 3 years legal experience preferred.
  • At least 3 years case management preferred. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing key initiatives.
  • Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to manage by influence.
  • High energy, maturity and leadership skills.
  • Excellent calendar management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • High level of professionalism, attention to detail, quick turnaround and 100% follow through.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility and customer service orientation.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and a passion for FRRC's mission.
  • Sensitivity to confidential matters is required.
  • Requires broad knowledge criminal justice sentencing documents. 

STRONGLY PREFER:

  • Experience in a nonprofit, public policy or social services environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of administrative online applications, such as Google Hangout, G-Suites,  and GoToMeeting, and utilization of agency websites.
  • Legal and/or criminal justice related experience.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

The Program Manager will interact most frequently with the Department Director, Deputy Director and other staff. In addition, this person will also interact frequently with FRRC members, community stakeholders, and coalition partners. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time, bend, stand, climb up one flight of stairs and may occasionally lift-up to 10 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
  • Program Manager will typically work a standard work week but may be required to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally and nationally on occasion. This person will be required to use their personal automobile for business and must carry auto insurance and have a current driver’s license.
  • The Program Manager traditionally works in an office environment (Orlando-based HQ). Remote options are available.
  • Noise level is low, with low frequency interruptions.
