Health care workers need protection NOW

By Mark Ferrulo - March 23, 2020

The coronavirus pandemic is a crisis for our nation and the world. This is our generation’s World War, and just as in previous World Wars, the heroes on the front lines are putting themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe. Health care workers here in Florida and across the nation are fighting to bring this outbreak under control and protect the health of millions of Americans. We must have their back.

Right now, Congress is debating how it will support hospitals and health care workers. We need to urge our members of Congress to act now to:

  1. Grow the capacity of our hospitals, nursing homes, and homecare providers by rapidly expanding the production of personal protection equipment (PPE) and ventilators;

  2. Increase health care funding to the states by increasing the Federal Medical Assistance percentage for Medicaid to make sure testing and treatment is affordable for all Americans; and

  3. Protect health care workers with additional funding for paid leave, childcare for health care staff, transportation and other support services.

We’ve teamed with 1199 SEIU, the nation’s largest health care workers union, to get as many calls into Congress as possible.

CALL 844-898-1199 TO TELL YOUR CONGRESSPERSON TO ACT ON THESE THREE CRITICAL ISSUES NOW.

This special toll-free hotline will connect you with your member of Congress’s office and give you a short message to share.

Yours in the fight,
Mark and the Progress Florida team
