Will Floridians actually vote?

By Mark Ferrulo - October 25, 2018

We’re less than two weeks away from the 2018 election: an election that will decide the future of Florida and our nation. The stakes couldn’t be higher, and we’re hard at work turning out progressive voters. There are thousands of mail ballots that haven’t been returned and still too many voters on the sidelines as early voting gets underway.

Support our Get Out The Vote campaign to turn out more Florida progressive voters with a $15 contribution or more today. We can’t afford to leave anything to chance at this stage.

Here are the two major challenges we’re seeing, and with your financial support, how we’re working to address them:

1.) Turnout: So far, only 32% of mail ballots have been returned to their county supervisor of elections. Early voting started in many counties on Monday and by the end of the week, every county will have their early voting locations open. We along with progressive organizations throughout the state are using trhe website to help thousands of Floridians vote. With your help, we’ll reach more.

2.) Information: Floridians will vote on 12 proposed amendments to our state’s constitution. Many are long and confusing. We’re addressing this challenge with our website which describes each amendment in plain language and provides the positions of ten major civic organizations on these amendments. More than 50,000 people have viewed the guide, and with your help, we’ll reach more.

At this stage of the 2018 election, it’s all about informing voters and turning them out to vote. That’s what we’re focused on right now, and we need your support to keep up this critical work. This is simply no time to slow down or get comfortable.

Contribute $15 or more today and we’ll put your donation to work informing and turning out more progressive voters throughout Florida.

Midterm elections like this one are usually characterized by lower voter turnout...and the kind of results that apathy brings. This election could be very different as Floridians look to make a substantial change at all levels of government. But this change simply won’t happen unless enough Floridians vote. Your support right now makes this change much more likely.
