The Billionaire Boulevard bill is heading to Gov. DeSantis’s desk as I write this. Let’s stop this unconscionable waste of taxpayer dollars to build environmentally destructive toll roads through rural Florida. Call Gov. DeSantis right now at 850-717-9337 and urge him to veto the Billionaire Boulevard.
Here’s a sample of what you can say:
Hello, I’m a Florida voter [your name] in [your city]. I’m urging Gov. DeSantis to veto SB 7068, the rural toll roads bill known as the Billionaire Boulevard. Thank you.
Phone calls directly from constituents like you can have the biggest impact on issues like this. The governor’s office will likely be keeping a tally of who’s in support and in opposition to certain bills, so your call matters.
The Billionaire Boulevard is the first big test of Gov. DeSantis’s alleged support of Florida’s environment. Let’s be clear: you can’t claim to support Florida’s environment if you sign your name to a bill that would add three major new toll roads cutting through rural Florida, in the process paving a path of destruction through farmlands, sensitive waterways, and prime wildlife habitat.
Action by everyday Floridians has already increased opposition to this bill. There was only one opposing vote – Senator José Javier Rodriguez (D-Miami) – in the state senate against the Billionaire Boulevard. However, thanks in part to your calls, opposition increased significantly in the Florida House. It wasn’t enough to stop the bill, but the trajectory is clear: the more Floridians know about the Billionaire Boulevard, the more they don’t like it.
Let’s keep this momentum building. Thanks again for taking action to help protect the Florida we love.
