Did you know there’s an important election on August 30th? It’s Florida’s primary election and while there are a lot of important races on your ballot, we want to tell you about the importance of Amendment 4.
Amendment 4 will exempt the value of solar panels and other renewable energy equipment from both the tangible personal property tax and the real property tax. To become law, Amendment 4 must be approved by a YES vote of at least 60 percent on the Aug. 30 primary ballot.
Amendment 4 will lower taxes on solar energy equipment making the decision to go solar that much easier for families and businesses throughout the state. In addition, more solar power is important for Florida’s economy, because it creates local jobs, protects against rising power bills, and keeps our energy dollars in our communities.
It goes without saying that more solar power will also help protect Florida’s environment. Our state is more vulnerable to climate change than any other in America. The impacts of climate change are already being felt with higher tides and more flooding as sea levels rise. Florida must develop a clean energy economy in order to protect our communities and unique natural places.
