Did you vote by mail? Read this

“I think it should be a lot easier. They shouldn’t delete the (mail) ballot (requests) and make people re-request them. It should be a smooth process the first time.” –Lee County voter Garry L. upon realizing his mail ballot request had been deleted along with every other Floridian who voted by mail this past election

Were you among the more than three million Floridians who voted by mail in the November election? If so, we have some important info to share.

In 2021 Gov. DeSantis signed a bill which made numerous unnecessary changes to Florida’s voting laws. Among the more onerous is a requirement that mail voters must request a mail ballot every general election cycle.

As a result, you’re no longer signed-up to vote by mail in Florida’s next election unless you re-enroll with your county Supervisor of Elections.

Use our handy tool at MakeAPlanToVote.com to request a mail ballot for the next election.

Progress Florida and many of our allies opposed the legislation because it makes it harder to vote by creating unneeded hurdles for voters by canceling mail ballot requests every general election, forcing voters to make redundant requests for mail ballots, and eliminating many of the secure ballot drop-boxes most convenient for working Floridians.

Florida’s political leaders should be making it easier, not harder, for citizens to participate in the democratic process. We’ll continue working toward that end, but in the meantime be sure to check your registration status and, if you wish to continue voting by mail, request a ballot from your Supervisor of Elections today.
