Healthcare Division Director (SEIU Healthcare Florida)

Summary
To represent and assist the Local Union in achieving its strategic goals in organizing, representation, and community and political affairs in our Healthcare Division; to supervise, train and direct internal organizers; to design and implement membership identification and training programs; to oversee the implementation the union’s member-driven Justice for All program as approved by the Executive Board.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Healthcare Division Director is in the staff leadership of the Union. The Director must be able to supervise, develop and lead staff. This position is based in South Florida. Among the duties:

1. Provide leadership to internal organizing/representation staff; assign staff and modify those assignments when necessary; supervise staff and hold accountable to the goals and program of the union.

2. Implement the Justice for All program through leadership development and achieving the union’s membership and COPE goals; plan and coordinate internal union development; assist staff in identifying, recruiting and training member leadership.

3. Develop and implement a plan for ongoing staff and leadership training.

4. Administer corrective discipline when necessary and recommend disciplinary action to the President.

5. Develop strategic bargaining plan; bargain contracts and represent workers as may be necessary from time to time.

6. Implement the union’s political program by building internal political capacity, and engaging in legislative and electoral campaigns.

Qualifications
The Healthcare Division Director requires a high level of judgment, leadership and commitment to the goals of the Union. The Director must be able to work independently in complex situations. The Director must have had experience directing large, complex campaigns.

Preferences
The Healthcare Division Director reports to the President of the Union. Regular travel throughout Florida is required. The position often requires temporary assignments away from home as well as long and irregular hours.

Compensation
Competitive salary based upon previous experience, full benefit package including retirement, 100% family paid health insurance, dental and car allowance.
