Who said elected officials don't listen to their constituents? Sen. Nelson noticed the more than 3,000 Floridians standing up to Big Oil and opposing drilling off Florida's coast. He wanted to share this message with you:
Progress Florida easily blew past its goal of 3,000 signatures to our "Stop Offshore Oil Drilling" letter - so we've raised it to 5,000! Join this growing movement by signing our letter here.
All,
I want to thank all the folks at Progress Florida for helping me stand up against drilling off Florida's coast. Last week, on the Senate floor I told the leadership I didn't want to mess up their energy bill - but I will, if it allows oil rigs ten miles off our state. Ten miles! That's roughly only half the distance between downtown Tampa and St. Pete. Drilling would turn our state into an industrial nightmare, while ignoring the path to U.S. energy independence through alternative fuels. Thank you, again, for helping in this fight.
Sincerely,
Bill
