The name didnt ring a bell when I saw it in my local paper a few weeks ago. It announced that he was running for Governor on the Democratic ticket in 2010. I meant to cut the article out and google the guys name but the paper made it to the recycle bin before I got to it and remembering names isnt as easy as it used to be in my younger days.

Today, however I got a second chance. While perusing the columnist archives of Pamela Hasterok at the Daytona Beach News-Journal, I came across another column of hers in which his name was mentioned and promptly went to Google. Mr. Arth is quite popular on Google. And for good reason. His list of creds is impressive. Artist, author, home/landscape/urban designer, futurist, and now a developer of a pedestrian friendly Garden District in Deland, FL once referred to as Crack Town. Once completed he made a documentary about the project titled NEW URBAN COWBOY. A review of it may be found here: http://efilmcritic.com/review.php?movie=17554&reviewer=392

While Mr. Arths chances of being elected doesnt stand a snowballs chance in hell, it wouldnt hurt for Progressives to talk him up. Its the least we can do for a fellow that is willing to walk the talk. And it proves that the New Urbanism concept, can and does work.

Another more familiar name for some of us, Eric Draper, has also popped up as a Democratic candidate. Mr. Draper, Deputy Director of Audubon of Florida, has announced his candidacy for State Agriculture Commissioner. According to Ms. Hasterok, Draper has an eight word platform, safe food, clean water, save land and green jobs. This candidacy is a can do if Progressives get behind him 100% and the benefit to the state would be enormous.

When worn by an environmentalist such as Michael
E.ARTH. That name is an easy one to remember too.
Vote for the E arth.
The most exciting thing to watch is the advancement for concerned human beings with this new media.
A grass roots revolution has begun and Arth is leading this change

Our broken justice system is our biggest local, state and national problem. Mr. Arth realizes this.

Real Progress

Ten yeas ago as a Realtor I was forbidden from "steering" people in any particular neighborhood, but one drive through what is now known as "the Garden District" was enough for any client to rule out living in this area. Now I am proud member of this neighborhood, which Mr. Arth's vison has turned into an oasis in "the Athens of Florida". What he has accomplished here is nothing short of miraculous, and I will gladly vote for him as he is hardworking, concerned for his environment and the people who populate it, and is not a career politician but a regular fellow who is in touch with the daily concerns most if us face. I think we need more people like this as a truer representation of "we the people" and I am excited to be so close to watch Mr. Arth's visions grow and benefit not only my city but hopefully all of Florida.

Arth is an idea man and a man of action

Micheal has the vision to see that we cannot afford the solutions of the past. If we can grasp the opportunities for change that the crises we face offer us, we can make life better for posterity. I urge you to make a contribution today at: Link

More ideas, more debate please

Democracy benefits from more ideas, and more debate. Michael Arth certainly brings these. So I'm with FL Granny: let's talk up Michael Arth!

Vote Arth!

I've known Michael for 20+ years and I can't think of a more dedicated or honest (two words not normally used in conjunction with politics) for office. Michael has dedicated himself to enviornmental reform long before it was fashionable. He'd be a real asset to Florida! I especially agree with the author of this article about encouraging men and women to run for office who truly come from the people, as opposed to professional politicians.

Rising star
By User from Bellingham, WA Aug 2nd 2009 at 1:00 pm EDT (Updated Aug 2nd 2009 at 1:00 pm EDT)
The citizens of Florida are well-advised to hitch their wagon to this rising star,MICHAEL E. ARTH (before he,inevitably, ascends to the national political stage). He is,truly, a 21st Century man and ,exactly, right for Florida's future. Will the voters take heed ? As they say, opportunity has a long beard and a bald head, grab Mr. Arth's beard before he turns away and your hands slip off his bald head as he walks away (to the Nation's Capitol ) !! It is time to trade-in your tired,energy-wasting politico clunkers for a new, fuel efficient model,MICHAEL E. ARTH !!

He Won't Pull a Palin!

Michael and I worked together for nearly two years making a documentary about him, "New Urban Cowboy." He's the real deal. Big time dreamer, fun and well-informed ideas, always up for a debate, pragmatism learned the hard way, and just enough pluck to pull it off. Vote for him!
